While deconstructing systemic inequality is difficult, classroom conversations allow individuals to have discoveries that break intrapersonal barriers and then societal ones. I enable my students to connect with one another and share their truth and enthusiasm as they create. Finding commonality with our fellow artists enables the storyteller to emerge and ready to share their inner voice. My passion for teaching and my desire to create lasting civic discourse that inspires public action motivates me in my evolution as an artist.
